MISSING THE READING CHALLENGE AND MOTHER DAUGHTER DAY!

Our students in Uganda have been writing essays as they continue learning remotely. We are happy to share their work. Please note student work is presented in its original content.

A school is a place where children go to learn. I miss school because at this time we would be having the teens’ group and Aunt Joyce to do our reading challenge. This year, I had planned to read over three hundred books. I wanted to be one of the winners in my class. I was determined to win and get a prize but now I am at home and we not sure if the reading challenge will be there this year. 

The other thing I miss in this month is the Mother daughter day. Aunt Joyce was going to come and lead us during this event. She always gives us good messages on this day. I miss seeing our mothers coming to school to celebrate the day with us and have fun. I also miss seeing my teachers wearing their busuti and competing to cook food in a short time given as mothers watch them.

I miss the KIOO classes where we teach boys about gender equality so that they can grow up as good boys but now I cannot because of the lock down.

I miss singing in the choir to welcome our visitors from USA. They make us happy when they bring us our sponsor letters and some books for our library. I miss playing with them and reading with them.

I miss all my teachers at school. The day we shall go back, I will be very happy. I thank our teachers for giving us work to do while we are at home. It has helped us not to forget our school work.
